About Us

"That they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."
John 17:23

Our Mission

“… And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” – Acts 2

Who We Are

By glorifying God and loving our brothers and sisters who come to Christ, The Acworth Christian Church encourages life-change. By encountering God together, we love more. When we fellowship as one body in love, we experience how much God loves us in Christ, and we will live in God's love. As Jesus said, "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You love Me may be in them, and I in them."
John 17:26

Our Leadership

Our approach to our church life together is a bit different than you’ll find at many places. While we do have a “lead pastor” in Jason and Michele Tomczak, we believe in a plurality of leaders, who work together in unity and share the load. Obviously, Jesus is the ultimate leader of our church, BUT we do have a few leaders who help direct the day-to-day aspects of the church.

Our Leadership

John Munro - Elder

John Munro served his community as a law enforcement officer for over 30 years. For many of those years he volunteered at his church, in missions, youth and hospitality programs. During his police career he was served by the Chaplains program which inspired him to volunteer as a lay leader. Upon retirement, he followed God’s call and enrolled in Ozark Christian College. He expects to graduate with a ministry degree in December of 2025.

John has been lovingly married to Tina for 38 years. They have three adult children and two high energy grand babies who know them as Nana and Papa.

What We Believe

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts and is our guide for daily living. The Bible is the final authority and arbitrator of determining doctrinal truth. (2 Peter 1:21; Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Timothy 3:16).

Trinity

There is one God, who created all things and who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons of the Godhead are co-equal, co-eternal, perfectly aligned and have always existed. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 3:7-11).

The Father

God the Father is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent.

God the Father is the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Father of all true believers (John 1:12-14).

Jesus

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, and that He was born of a virgin, that He lived a sinless life, that He died on the cross for our sins, rose on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again to reign in power and glory. (Hebrews 1:1-4; 1 John 1:29; 1 John 5:20; Matthew 1:20; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; John 1:1-3).

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and that He lives inside each believer, empowering us for daily living. (2 Corinthians 13:14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13).

Sin

People are created by God in His image, but we have separated ourselves from God through sin and need His saving grace. (Genesis 1:26-31; 3:17; Romans 2:5; 5:12-21).

Salvation

The forgiveness of sins is only available through the person and shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is the free gift of God’s grace and cannot be earned in any way. We receive God’s grace by putting faith in Christ – making Him Lord of our lives, repenting of our sin, confessing our faith in Jesus as God, and being baptized, immersed, into Christ. (Matthew 26:28; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:1-11; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 11:3; 1 Peter 1:18-19).

The Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, and that God has called believers to gather together in local church families. (Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 5:24-30; Hebrews 12:23; John 17:11, 20-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12).

Eternal Destiny

We believe that death seals the eternal destiny of each person. Those who are forgiven will spend eternity with God; those not forgiven will be eternally separated from God. (Hebrews 9:27).

Second Coming

We believe that Jesus Christ will come again in power and glory, at a time that is not disclosed in the Scriptures, and that we need to be ready for His return. (Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; John 14:1-3; Philippians 2:9-11; Matthew 24:30; 26:63-64; Acts 1:9-11; I Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8; Revelation 1:7).

Greatest Commandment

We believe that we are commanded to love God with all our might and our entire being, and that we demonstrate that love for Him by loving our neighbors as ourselves. Simply put, Love God and Love others. (Matthew 22:37-40; John 4:19-21; Mark 12:28-33; Romans 5:8; James 2:8; Matthew 7:12; Galatians 6:10).

Marriage

We believe in the Biblical definition of marriage and that it is a sacred and holy covenant between one man and one woman in an exclusive union. That marriage is instituted by God and publicly entered into before God. (Matthew 19:4-6; Genesis 2:18-25).

Gender

We believe that God wonderfully creates each person as either male or female, as part of His design and plan. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect that image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27; Mark 10:6).
